Project Update | AI Deep Research Comparison
Hi everyone,
As part of our recent testing, we compared three trending AI deep research tools to see which one produces the best overall output. Our use case for this study focused on supporting product development using the V-model, particularly within the context of Malaysian government contracts. However, the main objective was to evaluate quality, structure, and usability of AI-generated research content.
The three models we tested:
We reviewed how each tool delivers written content for business or project documentation, such as proposals, roadmaps, and research summaries — focusing on clarity, structure, and usefulness for decision-makers.
| AI Model | Strength | Weakness |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini 2.0 Flash | Very detailed analysis | Too long, like reading a thesis – hard to scan quickly |
| GPT 4.5 Deep Research | Clean structure, good length, easy to read | Lacks extra content like ‘lessons learned’ or industry insights |
| Liner Deep Research | Very fast, gives summary + extra info like ‘lessons learned’ | User interface (UI) is not user-friendly, feels like a beta version |
If you’re working on non-academic content that needs to be shared with management or stakeholders, GPT 4.5 Deep Research currently provides the best balance:
While Gemini Flash is ideal for in-depth analysis, it may be too long for quick business decision-making. Liner, on the other hand, is promising due to its speed and extra insights — but still needs improvements in usability.
